ABOUT

Gustavo von Ha works with the concept of verisimilitude. He incorporates one version of himself in each work, materializing images often silenced in the Brazilian art history academics. This strategy also problematizes the role of the artist these days.

His production emerges from investigations that unfold in many cores of works that operate inside and outside of the art system; infecting several platforms and circuits of images such as internet, movie theaters, informal sector and art market itself.

The artist is interested in issues beyond the hegemonic narratives. His production is structured in a performative action that goes throughout all the artist’s research period and lies within the limits between reality and fiction; authorship and cultural industry within the contemporary art context.

Gustavo lives and works in Sao Paulo. His work is featured in private and public collections, such as Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, MAR [Rio Art Museum] and MAC-USP [Museum of Contemporary Art of USP].
