ABOUT
Gustavo von Ha’s practice unfolds through various bodies of work that operate both within and outside the art system, engaging multiple platforms for image circulation such as the internet, movie theaters, libraries, street vending, and public space. Structured as a performative action, his production exists at the boundaries between reality and fiction, art and the market, public and private spheres, authorial production and the cultural industry. His research brings to light images, concepts, and histories that are often silenced within Brazilian academic contexts and art history, revealing an interest in issues beyond hegemonic narratives.
MINI BIO
Gustavo von Ha (1977) is a Brazilian visual artist. His work has been commissioned by institutions in Brazil, Europe, and the United States and exhibited at the Yerevan Biennial, the 11th Mercosul Biennial, DA Z Festival, Museum für Gestaltung, Zurich, MAC USP (Sao Paulo), MAM-SP (Museum of Modern Art of Sao Paulo), Museu de Arte do Rio, among others. His work is held in collections such as the Pinacoteca do Estado de Sao Paulo, MAM-SP (Museum of Modern Art of Sao Paulo), MAR (Museum of Art of Rio), MAC-USP (Museum of Contemporary Art of the University of Sao Paulo), Instituto Cervantes of Tokyo, and NCC (Nassau Community College), Garden City, NY.
